Yes, Christians should embrace Twitter more!

Yesterday, March 21, 2016 marked 10 years since social networking site, Twitter was born.
The first tweet (that's what updates on Twitter are called) was sent by co-founder Jack Dorsey on March 21, 2006, it read: "just setting up my twttr" - Jack (@jack).
From that single tweet, Twitter has grown to become a big part of our daily lives.
The micro-blogging site has in that time redefined the way we communicate. Now, we are made to fit our thoughts - no matter how deep - into just 140 characters (not words) or less. Now, we use #hashtags, mentions, favourites and all such terms. All these were alien to us before Twitter.
So, what can the Christian do in the midst of these? How should we approach this powerful tool that reaches millions of people each day, with over 300 million users?

Twitter, like many of man's inventions, is a neutral tool that can be manipulated; at the end of the day, it takes the form of the user; this is where we come in as Christians.
I say we EMBRACE it. We EXPLOIT it for God's Kingdom.
Let's be more vocal! Be more active! More creative! Use #hashtags to drive home our point - that Jesus remains the SOLE route to God and eternal life! If Jesus were here physically today, I strongly believe He'd use Twitter to proclaim God's word and not avoid it.

So go on ahead; be fruitful, multiply, fill the social media space and subdue it; have dominion over every #hashtag. Make Jesus the trending topic. Make God's Word the most "favourited". Make the Holy Spirit get the most mentions. Embrace it. Exploit it. To God's glory.
