Picture quotes to reflect on

They say a picture says a thousand words (but that's not literally and scientifically true, is it? Just kidding). Well, here's some picture quotes with insightful words to reflect on...

What frequency are you tuned in to: the 'what ifs' of fear or faith?

The 'what ifs' of fear...
What if you try and you fail woefully?
What if you invest that money in business and it all goes down the drain?
What if this sickness will lead to death?
What if after studying hard you still fall short?
What if your marriage deteriorates further?
What if something goes horribly wrong on the way?
What if the board thinks your idea is rubbish?
What if you lose this job?
What if your kids never change and continue their wayward living?
What if you are rejected and your business goes bankrupt?
What if it all goes horribly wrong?

These and the likes are the 'what ifs' of fear...this is what you hear when you tune in to The Fear Channel...this frequency plants seeds of doubt, unbelief, depression, worry and complaining in you...

...but scratch all that...let's tune in to a different frequency - The Faith Channel, I particularly like this channel...this frequency plants seeds of hope, belief, desire, inspiration, motivation, confidence; you hear things like...

Make space for grace in your life

“For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathise with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin. Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need” – Hebrews 4:15-16.
It’s hard trying to help someone who’s hell bent on doing it all by himself/herself.

Picture it, you want to help the person, and he/she goes, “I’ve got this, thank you” ; you try again to help in another situation, and they go, “I’ve got this, thanks for the offer.” Really, how do you help such persons? You try to offer your help, but they don’t make the space for it. It’s frustratingly difficult; especially when it’s apparent the person needs your help.

I've got great news for you

I've got great news for you. Yes, you! Guess what! No matter what's happening to you. No matter how hard things may seem. No matter how tough things are now. No matter how bleak the future looks from where you're standing. No matter what people are saying about you. No matter what you've been through.

Regardless of all these - GOD HAS GOT IT ALL FIGURED OUT FOR YOU! He's completely in control of your life. This I know and believe. God's got your life completely figured out - from start to finish.

How do I know this? Here's how:

It could have been worse... but for His grace

It could have been worse...
You hear of the legalisation of same sex marriage and transsexuals being celebrated and honoured as heroes for "coming out" and you lament.

It could have been worse...
You read of how IS, Boko Haram, Al Shabab, Al Qaeda and the likes mercilessly kill thousands and render millions orphan, homeless and widowed on a regular basis and shiver.

It could have been worse...
You see government officials take oath in public glare to uphold the constitution and defend the people, yet when they get hold of power, they do everything but that, and you curse at them.

Rest

"Come to me, all you who labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn of me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light" - Matthew 11:28-30.

Soon after she was born, Maggie's dad leaves without a trace. No messages. No letters. No calls. Nothing. One day became two, then rolled into weeks. The months and the years went by, and it became obvious he was never returning!

Maggie's mom was left to cater for her new born alone. Without help, she was lost for ideas. Where does she start? She had no proper education. No skills. Not formal. Not vocational. Her family, you say? She's an only child! And here she is, in her early twenty-somethings, a mother with no one to turn to!

But despite the odds, she manages to raise Maggie. Wow! But the story is only just beginning...

What the Bible really wants you to know about God: He's not mad at you, He loves you to bits!

When we paint God as someone who goes about with a book in hand to record our rights and wrongs, just waiting for us to slip so He'll put it down and punish us accordingly, we grossly misunderstand Him; and it makes building an intimate loving relationship with Him impossible!

That false idea makes one give up trying, because you find yourself constantly failing at measuring up to a perfect holy being who you imagine is always mad at you, and looking at you with contempt for constantly failing and falling below His high standard.

#SSVBlogNuggets: Rise up and walk from your depression and hopelessness!

"Then Peter said, "Silver and gold I do not have, but what I do have I give you; in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, RISE UP AND WALK." And he took him by the right hand and lifted him up, and immediately his feet and ankle bones received strength." - Acts 3:6-7.

When you feel depressed and hopeless, remember this if you forget all else: "But as many as received Him, to them gave He the power to become sons of God, even to them that believe on His name..." (John 1:12).

God can still create something special out of your mess!

One of the most fascinating things I have learned in my walk with God is that He can create the most beautiful piece of music from a broken instrument! He can paint the most beautiful picture on a dirty, trashed and trampled-upon canvas! He can create the most beautiful story from broken pieces!

It’s remarkable! And refreshing, too. It tells me that God doesn’t require the best working implement to do His work. Amazing! How refreshing that is. Indeed, He can still create something special out of your mess. He specializes in using broken pieces; and I’m guessing He loves it, too.

For when it seems all hell is let loose...

Trying times are, indeed, hard to navigate, even for a word-filled spiritually-minded person. After all, we're still flesh, blood and flawed!

It is important then that we know where to turn, whom to consult and whose word to hold fast to at those times when it seems the gates of problems have been flung wide open! Those times when you just can't understand why it seems you have a heap of pressing issues all at once! Those times when it seems the noise is reaching its loudest! Those times when worry and anxiety have gripped you! Those times when we're overcome by fear!

We can find the strength and faith to hold on and press on in God's word!

The Bible is the world's book of answers! Find out why

The Bible, indeed, is a practical manual for life! It is not some book written by people who lived in Space or some other world; about people, things and events in that world, and thus not applicable to earth, no!

People in flesh and blood (like you and I) were inspired by God to pen the Scriptures. Their personal experiences, fears, weaknesses, imperfections, hope, victories, mindset, beliefs and confidence shine through in the words. This makes the Bible very relatable!
