We are all brand ambassadors; what brand do you represent?

"Now then, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were pleading through us: we implore you on Christ's behalf, be reconciled to God" - 2 Corinthians 5:20.

Whether we realise it or not, we are all brand ambassadors! Your words, actions, behaviour, demeanour and response are consistent with a particular brand; the question is: what brand? What brand do you represent? What brand does your life embody?

Consciously or unconsciously, we are individually creating awareness for, and leading people to, particular brands as ambassadors - either of Christ and eternal life; or of the devil and eternal damnation. You are a brand ambassador, and you decide which brand you want to represent.

Who is a brand ambassador?
A brand ambassador, literally, is an individual tasked with representing a brand in the best possible light, in order to create awareness for the brand and lead people to it.
He/she is expected to embody and exemplify the corporate identity of the brand in appearance, demeanour, values and ethics. In other words, he eats, lives and breathes the brand.
People should look at a brand ambassador and tell what the brand is like!

So then, it is not a question of am I a brand ambassador? But of, what brand do I embody? What brand's corporate identity do I exemplify?
What brand is my life consistent with? Is it of Christ and heaven? Or of the devil and hell?

Your lifestyle reveals the brand you represent

Ideally, your lifestyle reveals what brand you represent.
If you represent a wishy-washy brand, your lifestyle would be consistent with that. But if you represent an excellence-oriented brand, your lifestyle would equally be one of excellence.

As Christians, we are Christ's brand ambassadors! Charged to represent His brand here on earth. To shine forth His light. To share His love. To lead people to Him through our lives. We are required to lead lives consistent with His brand.

Are you a good brand ambassador of Christ?
The question we should ask ourselves as Christians and answer honestly then is not whether we are really Christ's brand ambassadors, but am I a good brand ambassador of Christ? Am I representing His brand in the best possible light through my appearance, words, demeanour, values, ethics and works?
Remember, a brand ambassador is key to the success of the brand.

What then makes a good brand ambassador?
It is one thing to be a brand ambassador, but it's an entirely different thing to be a good one. Many are the brand ambassadors of Christ (that is, all who are saved and reconciled to God); but few are good brand ambassadors of His.
Here's what makes a good brand ambassador....

1. He embodies the values, character and identity of the brand
As we said earlier, you can't be representing a brand that stands for excellence and live a wishy-washy life!
A good brand ambassador "wears" the brand wherever he goes; he eats, lives and breathes the brand's values - he embodies and exemplifies the brand.
Is your life consistent with Christ's values? Are your words, appearance, values, works in consonance with Christ's brand?

2. He is knowledgeable about the brand
You can't tell people what you don't know, right? A good brand ambassador then must be knowledgeable the brand he is representing.
Do you know Christ? How much of His word is dwelling inside of you?

3. He is passionate about the brand
He talks about the brand almost every chance he gets. And his enthusiasm shines through in his speech.
He doesn't need convincing or cajoling to talk about the brand to whoever hasn't bought in to the brand yet. He loves his brand, and loves to talk about it.
Are you passionate about Christ? Do you love God?

4. He is proactive in spreading the brand message
He is deliberate and proactive in spreading the message of the brand.
He uses the latest and most effective mass communication tools to spread the brand's message.
How proactive are you in spreading the gospel? Do you actively share the gospel in your circle of influence?

What Christ's brand stands for
It's important we know the values our brand stands for, else we'd misrepresent Christ. What values does our brand stand for?

1. Love
"He who does not love does not know God, for GOD IS LOVE" - 1 John 4:8.

The first feature of our "brand" as Christians is love. Selfless love. Sacrificial love. Unconditional love. Love as it should be. Love in its purest form.

"But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8) - the world has not known love like this. There's no greater love than this.

It is not negotiable; as Christ's ambassadors, we must EMBODY love, we must EXEMPLIFY love. The love that puts the interests and concerns of others before that of self. The love that will not see someone going down and fold its hands. The love that acts. The love that gives. The love that forgives. The love that helps.

2. Holiness
For I am the Lord your God. You shall therefore consecrate yourselves, and you shall be holy; for I AM HOLY. Neither shall you defile yourselves with any creeping thing that creeps on the earth. For I am the Lord who brings you up out of the land of Egypt, to be your God. YOU SHALL THEREFORE BE HOLY, FOR I AM HOLY" - Leviticus 11:44.

As Christ's ambassadors, holiness is a non-negotiable feature! God maintains that standard, and as His ambassadors, we must, too.
We must avoid sin like the plague; because actually it's a plague.

Our principal (God) does not condone sin (He doesn't condemn the sinner, just the act). We must repent, completely turning away from all sinful acts and thoughts.
Holiness is God's standard, and He is not lowering that standard any time - not now, not ever!

3. Excellence
"Then God saw everything that He had made, and indeed it was VERY GOOD..." - Genesis 1:31.

A songwriter says everything written about God is great! I agree. I'll add that everything He does and about Him is excellent! Impeccable! Of the highest standard! Of the highest quality! God is excellence oriented!

Again, you cannot be representing an excellence-oriented brand and be churning out wishy-washy works, no! That's misrepresentation of the brand!
Our God does things to the highest level possible!
If He were to physically be a student, He'll embody excellence.
If He were to physically be a father, He'll embody excellence in fatherhood.
Whatever He does is indeed VERY GOOD. And as His brand ambassadors, that should be our level!

We should churn out the best! Produce the best works! Be the VERY best wherever we are! At the office. In school. In your business niche.
It's easier to get people to buy into Christ's brand when you embody excellence in words and deed.

What brand do you represent? Are you representing your brand in the best possible way?
Whatever you do, try not to be a poor brand ambassador. Embody and exemplify the values of Christ!
It's not a question of am I a brand ambassador? But of what brand do I represent? (Selah).
